Coach Friday Johnson has over 30 years of experience as a player and coach, and has been coaching in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area for more than 16 years. A master clinician, Coach Johnson has spent most of his coaching career developing the area's top young talent. Most recently, Coach Johnson led his MSI Falcons U-17 Boys, ranked #2 in the nation, to a 2015 Maryland State Cup Championship and place in the USYS Region I Championships this summer. Among his many accolades, Coach Johnson was named the 1997 Washington Post All-Metropolitan Coach of the Year.
League Affiliation
The MSI Vipers compete in the National Capitol Soccer League (NCSL).
About the Team
The MSI Vipers is a premier-level boys team from Rockville, Maryland. The team trains 10-months a year in the North Bethesda, Rockville, and Gaithersburg areas. A member of the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL), the Vipers play home league matches at the prestigious Maryland Soccerplex. Away league matches are played throughout the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. In addition to competing in a premier league, the team also participates in two tournaments in both of the traditional seasons, fall and spring. During the non-traditional winter season, the Vipers play futsal and/or compete in outdoor league play.
Accolades
The MSI Vipers earned NCSL promotional honors in Fall 2013, and again in Spring 2014 after winning the division. The Vipers recent tournament accomplishments include:
