Start of the Fall Season!

Hi parents,

We are so excited about the start of the soccer season! Thank you all for your involvement in EYSO, and we especially welcome those who are new! We hope you and your children will all have a great experience this year.

A few reminders as we get ready for our first rec games this weekend:

Saturday Schedule 8/28
     U8 - 9:00-10:00am (Babbitt fields)
     U10 (Royal - Coach Duncan) - 10:00am (Babbitt fields)
     U5 - 10:15-11:00am (Babbitt fields)
     U6 - 11:00-11:45am (Babbitt fields)
     U12 - 2:00pm (Pool field)

(Note, U10 Gold (Herlihy) does not have a game this Saturday)

The full schedule for all age groups and teams will be posted on the website within the next week.

Rosters

All registered players in U10 and up have been assigned to a team, and you should have received a notification with your roster and coach's information. These teams will play together for the 8-week session this fall and will remain together for the 8-week session in the spring.

The U8 division features an academy style of play. Rather than having individual teams we work out as one larger group and have rotating teams on Saturday mornings.

The U5 and U6 divisions have small teams to help organize sessions, but during games the players may be mixed together. You will report to the field that matches your team number.

If you are unsure about what team you are on, please contact Mike French ([email protected]m).

Practices
U5 & U6 - no weekday practice. The Saturday sessions are split into practice time and game time.

U8
 - Thursday night group practice, 6-7pm.

U10, U12, & U14 - Two weekday practices scheduled by coaches

Travel - Two weekday practices scheduled by coaches.

Locations
U5, U6, U8, and U10 practices and games are held exclusively at the Babbitt Road fields (Milton Road and Babbitt Road, near the ice arena). U12 rec practices and home games are at Pool field, behind the baseball diamonds on the East 222nd side of Memorial Park. U12 travel, as well as U14/15 rec and travel practices and home games are at Shore field, on Shore Center Drive behind Burlington Coat Factory.

Uniforms and Equipment
Each player will receive a uniform (jersey, shorts, socks) that is to be worn for all games. Additional practice socks will be available for purchase for $5/pair. There was a delay in our uniforms and they should arrive by next weekend.

All players are required to wear shin guards for all practices and games. There are no exceptions. Shin guards must be worn beneath the socks and be completely covered by the socks.

While not required, soccer-style cleats are recommended. Metal spikes or football or baseball cleats are not allowed. If you do not have cleats, or are panicking that last year's no longer fit, we encourage you to participate in our reBOOT program. We collect used cleats of various sizes and make them freely available to all EYSO players. You can pick up cleats or donate old pairs at uniform pickup or at Saturday mornings at Babbitt. If you are donating cleats we ask that they be clean and placed in a bag and labeled with the size. Cleats donated to this program that we cannot use will be passed on to local charities.

Volunteers
EYSO is an all-volunteer organization and we are very grateful to the executive board, our coaching staff, and others who already have been putting in many hours to get ready. In order to help the league continue to grow and to make it the best experience we can, we need your help! We know that not every parent has the time or inclination to coach a team, but there are many other ways in which you can help out. Please contact us at [email protected] if you would like to get more involved!

Most importantly, we want all of you (parents and players) to have fun! Soccer is an amazing game that has brought a great deal of joy to my life and I hope that you will find some joy this season! If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me or another member of the board.

See you at the fields!
