Tournament #1 - Rome Challenge

Hello Crossfire Family!  Below is an update for the week of 7/6:

PRACTICE:  Looks like we will continue to try to dodge afternoon thunderstorms.  Please plan to receive information regarding practice days/times from your coach and team parent.

SPEED/AGILITY/CONDITIONING:  This week, speed & agility will be Tuesday evening from 6-7 at Lost Mountain Park, due to Frank’s schedule.  I know some of our coaches got to see Frank in action last Thursday and were quite impressed.  Please try to attend and take advantage of this great supplement to regular practices.

GROUP ME:  We have set up a club wide GROUPME to be able to quickly communicate with you all, when necessary.  To join this, please follow this link:  https://groupme.com/join_group/60334384/XwTl8xMn

TOURNAMENT 7/11 & 12:  We were disappointed to hear the Trilogy Atl Opener was cancelled.  However, we were fortunate to have the Rome Challenge by MonkeyUp the same weekend.  It is being held at the Darlington School in Rome, GA.  Please note that some of our teams might not be in the correct division (A versus B) because we joined the tournament late.  Below you will find the link to the tournament webpage that has/will have the schedule, field location, waiver, etc.

Please get your waiver done immediately.  No waiver, no play!

Always allow yourself plenty of time to ensure you arrive at the time your coach has instructed! It’ll take an hour to get to the field and parked from our side of town.  Most coaches typically want you at the field an hour before your game.

UNIFORMS/SPIRIT WEAR:  Will be distributed this week, prior to our 1st official tournament.  With respect to uniforms we ask for your grace and flexibility as we distribute uniforms.  Because of the timing of decisions this year, we had to identify stock uniforms that could get ordered, delivered and screen printed in an extremely short time frame.  We had to use some judgement in ordering the product and because of the cost are limited in the “extras” we have.  We ask each team to try to resolve size issues within the team as best as possible.  This process has been quite stressful…

ATTIRE:  We encourage everyone to support our teams by wearing Crossfire attire or the color orange.  Please...we do not want to see high school or other lax program attire...WE ARE CROSSFIRE!!!

CODE OF CONDUCT:  As a participant of Crossfire, we expect each player and parent to comply with our  Code of Conduct.  Please take the time to discuss this as a family heading into the tournament weekend.   We want to prevent any issues and want to remind everyone that you represent our club, our area and our families at the tournaments…have pride in CROSSFIRE!

Positivity is the key in cheering from the sidelines...negative comments about players, refs are not appropriate.  Crossfire Lacrosse believes strongly in the concept of sportsmanship and the core principles of respect, trustworthiness, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship.

I agree to:

  • support my player, their teammates and their coach's efforts at all times,
  • cheer encouragements to my player and his teammates but NOT instructions,
  • respect the opponent's players, coaches, fans and game officials at all times; be a role model of a fan!
  • avoid any confrontation with game officials, coaches or opposing team parents,
  • refrain from any unsportsmanlike and poor parenting behavior including verbal or physical abuse of players, coaches, game officials and spectators, before, during and after games.

HOTELS:  We had hoped to book a block of rooms for tournaments.  Things are strange with COVID.  The hotel agreements are not as friendly as they have been in past years.  So, if you are interested in booking a room please either use the hotel link on the tournament websites or try our recommendation below.  We will work on a recommendation for the last tournament this week:

Peachtree City:  Peachtree City Atlanta Hotel & Conference Center (Hilton property)

Thank you for your attention to all of this information!  Get that waiver done ASAP!  Work hard this week at practice leading up to the weekend tournament...GO CROSSFIRE!
