DC Stoddert Partners with Metro United

RESTON, Va. – DC Stoddert Soccer has partnered with Metro United DA as one of three clubs in connection with the program. Metro United DA will further the player-pathway for DC Stoddert Players by giving them a route to train and transition to the Girls’ Development Academy.

As part of DC Stoddert’s partnership with Metro United, DC Stoddert’s qualified players will have the opportunity to train with the Development Academy regularly, and have opportunities to compete in games with Metro United on a part-time basis. As the partnership progresses, DC Stoddert players will be evaluated by Metro United coaches and have the opportunity to become more involved or become full-time DA players.

Additionally, DC Stoddert will host one training session per month for Metro United on fields within the District.

The partnership also offers coaching development opportunities with DC Stoddert’s Mavis Danso and Mandi Casares serving as assistant coaches for DA teams when needed. Our coaches will have access to the Academy’s coaching staff, training structure and opportunities to be involved in workshops and coaching education seminars.

The opportunity to participate in Metro United’s program will be for Girls Travel Program Players ’07 and older.

“DC Stoddert is excited to be a part of the new Metro United Program,” said Acting Technical Director Khaled Hamami. “In the ever-changing soccer landscape, being part of the Development Academy gives our players great opportunities to compete at the highest level and to be seen by some of the top college coaches in the country providing them the exposure they need.”

What is the Development Academy Program?

The Academy Program focuses on positively impacting everyday club environments to assist in maximizing youth player development across the country. The Academy values individual development of elite players over winning trophies and titles. The Academy sets the standard for elite environments for youth soccer clubs nationwide and is a part of U.S. Soccer's global leadership position in youth soccer that will impact thousands of players.
