Camp Philosophy


The camp philosophy is to present the fundamental techniques of soccer in a fun, learning atmosphere. The technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects of the game will be presented daily in a unique environment.  Mastering individual techniques with the ball is a primary goal. For the advanced players, tactics and team concepts will be introduced through small-sided games, maximizing each player's participation.  Our highly experienced staff will offer a challenging environment for the beginner and advanced level player.


General Camp Information

Campers Receive -
professional coaching, lunch (daily), t-shirt, soccer ball (must be registered by June 9th to receive a t-shirt and ball) a camp photo (via email) and a technic al score sheet.

Supervision - campers will be supervised by members of the coaching staff at all times.

First Aid Providers -  There will be a first aid provider on duty at all times.

Insurance -  Primary coverage is the responsibility of each camper and his / her parent or guardian. 

Camp Deposit -  A non-refundable deposit of $150 is required to secure a place in the camp.  All campers whose applications are post-marked by June 9th, 2013 will receive a free camp soccer ball and t-shirt.  Applications will be accepted through the first day of camp. 


About Western Reserve

Western Reserve Academy is located in the historic and picturesque town of Hudson, Ohio.  The academy was founded in 1826 and served as a college and preparatory school until 1882, when it’s college branch, known as Case Western Reserve University, moved to Cleveland. Although the academy has a rich history, it’s facilities are truly state of the art.  The academy boasts a beautiful one-hundred and ninety acre campus with a brand new full size turf soccer stadium and an athletic field house with rubberized flooring.  WRA also has  five new grass soccer fields and a world class weight room.Our campers will have use of the academy’s Olympic size indoor swimming pool, recreation center and class room facilities for watching game films. About Herb Haller

Herb Haller will be entering his thirteenth season in the fall as Head Coach of the boys’ varsity soccer team at Western Reserve Academy.  WRA has compiled an impressive 206-63-46 record at his alma mater, where he was a two-time high school All-American.  WRA has consistently been one of the top Division III programs in Ohio.  Haller has produced one All-American, five All-Region players, and 13 All-State players.  The National Soccer Coaches Association of America named Haller the 2006 Private/Parochial  School Regional Coach of the Year and he was a finalist for National Coach of the Year.  He was the 2006 and 2005 Greater Akron Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association Private/Parochial School Coach of the Year.  In 2004 he won the GASSCA Ron Pinsenschaum Award, given to the coach who exemplifies sportsmanship, integrity, and the development of character and positive values on the field.  Haller is also a two-time Tri-County League Coach of the Year recipient.  Before returning to WRA, Haller spent four seasons as the top assistant coach at the University of Akron, helping guide them to a 51-21-6 overall record, three MAC championships and a NCAA tournament spot in 1998.  He holds a US Soccer Federation ‘A’ Coaching License, has been an Olympic Development Program Region II Coach, as well as an Olympic Development Program State Team Head Coach, and is a State Coaching School Instructor. Haller played college soccer at Indiana University, captaining the 1988 team to the Hoosiers third NCAA National Championship in their storied history. Along with his role as Head Boys’ Soccer Coach, Haller’s main duty at WRA is as Director of Athletics.  He also teaches German AP.
