Baseball (1st - 12th Grade)
PRACTICES AND GAMES
Practices generally start in mid-April. There are 1-2 practices per week leading up the first game. Games generally begin in early May and will be played one weekday evening and Saturday Mornings. Each division will have an end of season league tournament. Weather permitting, the season will end by the middle of July. We try to keep all Divisions as a true house organization and inter-Perrysburg, but once a division is only carrying 4 or less teams, we will be looking for an external league for the teams to play in.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED
Each player will need to provide their own glove, batting helmet with mask/cage, and bat at each practice and game. Please be sure to print your child’s name on the inside of the baseball cap along with any other personal equipment. Molded Plastic Cleats, baseball pants (with or without belt), and baseball socks are needed at this level. Please ask your coach what color pants and socks are expected for your given team. Each division has different bat size requirements. Please reach out to your Commissioner or VP Baseball with questions on bat requirements. Colt and Pony age levels may wear metal spiked cleats, but this is optional.
Equipment and clothing can be expensive. Please feel free to buy and sell used clothing and equipment from sites like this: Perrysburg Baseball and Softball Used Equipment. The league also has a limited amount of Helmets that are available as well (please contact [email protected] or [email protected]).
TEAM SELECTION PROCESS
Players will be evaluated before the season to evenly distribute the players across the division to try to ensure that all teams will have equal skill sets and experience.
Evaluations dates for the 2024 season are still being determined.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Each team needs a coach and at least one assistant coach. The baseball division has teams of 10-13 players. Do you have what it takes to coach?
- A passion for the game
- A desire to give the kids a fun experience while teaching them the fundamentals of the game
- A basic understanding of the rules of the game
- Availability during the season
All coach volunteers need to complete Concussion Training [ADD LINK], will have the opportunity to go to a workshop to get coaching tips, and will get training on how to use SportsConnect to manage their team.
To volunteer, register yourself as a coach when you register your child online! Steps to complete the required Concussion Training can be found in the 'Coaches Corner' section of our website.
