Softball (8U - 14U)

Practices generally start in mid-April. There are 1-2 practices per week leading up the first game. Games generally begin in early May. Each division will have an end of season league tournament.  Weather permitting, the season will end by the middle of July.  If there are not enough teams formed to support a Perrysburg only league, the softball teams will compete against other Northwest Ohio softball teams and travel up to 45 minutes may be required for some of the games and end of season tournament.  All practices will be held in Perrysburg.

Each player will need to provide their own glove, batting helmet with mask/cage, fielding face mask, and bat at each practice and game.  Please be sure to print your child’s name on the inside of all personal equipment.  Molded Plastic Cleats, pants (with or without belt), and softball socks are needed at this level. Please ask your coach what color pants and socks are expected for your given team. Softball 14U may wear metal spiked cleats, but this is optional.

Equipment and clothing can be expensive. Please feel free to buy and sell used clothing and equipment from sites like this: Perrysburg Baseball and Softball Used Equipment.  The league also has a limited amount of Helmets that are available as well (please contact [email protected] or [email protected]).

Players will be evaluated before the season to  evenly distribute the players across the division to try to ensure that all teams will have equal skill sets and experience.

Evaluations dates for the 2024 season are still being determined.

Each team needs a coach and at least one assistant coach. The softball division has teams of 10-13 players. Do you have what it takes to coach?

  • A passion for the game
  • A desire to give the kids a fun experience while teaching them the fundamentals of the game
  • A basic understanding of the rules of the game
  • Availability during the season

All coach volunteers need to complete Concussion Training [ADD LINK], will have the opportunity to go to a workshop to get coaching tips, and will get training on how to use SportsConnect to manage their team.

To volunteer, register yourself as a coach when you register your child online!
