Who needs to tryout?

All players that wish to play with Florida Elite Tallahassee in one of our COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS must participate in the tryout process.

What should players expect at tryouts?

9U-10U Academy:

Players are assessed on their basic technical ability and cognitive skills for soccer. Selection is based on those who show the necessary ability and commitment for progression within our club.

11U-12U Elite/Premier Teams:

Evaluation is based on each player's technical, tactical, physical and mental abilities. Elite or Premier team placement based on current ability and commitment.

13U-19U Elite/Premier Teams:

Evaluation is based on each player's technical, tactical, physical and mental abilities. Players will be placed onto Elite or Premier teams based on current ability and commitment. Movement between Elite and Premier teams during a season for training and games is available.

What does the tryout consist of?

Players should expect to attend each tryout day for 90 minutes. Players will be placed into small-sided and/or full-sided games for evaluation by coaches. Coaches will base their selections on abilities demonstrated during the tryouts. To see all aspects of a player’s soccer ability, we must let them play and be compared against their peers!

Are returning players guaranteed a roster spot?

No. The tryout process will be fair and equitable to all players, and coaches will offer opportunities to players based on their ability.

What if my child cannot attend tryouts or is injured?

If your child will be absent from tryouts, you must still register them. Club staff will follow up with you at the conclusion of tryouts.

What happens after tryouts?

Offers will be made following tryouts. A $150.00 Commitment Fee is required upon acceptance of your player's spot. Should the player choose not to accept the offer, please be aware that the offer will expire. If a player is not offered a spot on a team, they should plan to attend a subsequent tryout. Players will receive more information from the Director of Coaching regarding attending additional tryout nights.

When will I find out who will be our team coach?

Tentative coaching assignments are set prior to tryouts based on pre-registrations. Assignments will be confirmed at the conclusion of tryouts.
