2020 COVID-19 Safety Precautions (PDF)

6/25/20
Due to the covid regulations that we are required to adhere to, for the 2020 season we will be implementing a hard stop rule. Each division is allotted a certain amount of time per game. Regardless where the game is at once the allotted time is used the game is over.

5/21/20

Families - the below email and attachment was sent last night.  This morning, we did get approval from the city to change the face covering requirement to recommended instead of mandatory.  This change is reflected in the revised attachment.  The remained of the guidelines remain the same.

Hello PABSC families,

We are ready to get our season started for 2020.  I do apologize for the delay from the last communication but we were waiting for the city of Perrysburg insurance carrier to finalize the waiver form that each family will need to agree to.  In order for your player(s) to start practicing, this waiver must be electronically signed.  PABSC will track the signed waivers and will be in contact with coaches to info them who has and who has not signed them.  To sign the waiver for your player, log into your account at www.pabsc.com.  Next to each registered player's name, there is an icon that looks like a pencil inside a box.  Click on that icon and it will bring up the information you filled out during registration.  The waiver will be there for you to check to attest that you read it and understand.  Then push the save button at the bottom of the page to save your electronic attestation.

We have also attached the PABSC COVID-19 guidelines for your review.  These guidelines are based on the governor's requirements/recommendations for all youth sports to follow.  No matter what our personal views are in relation to COVID-19, we need everyone to follow all of the guidelines.  This certainly may be a small price to pay, however our youngsters have an opportunity to have some sort of normalcy this summer by playing baseball or softball.  Please read them carefully, as there are many changes you will see this season so we can meet all of the guidelines.  More information will be coming in the next few weeks regarding some of the requirements, such as the daily assessment that players/coaches will need to fill out.

Now for the timeline.  Here is a run-through of what our season will look like so you can plan.  We will send additional dates, such as picture day, once those are worked out.

May 26 - Travel teams will begin practices

June 8 - House teams will begin practices; travel teams begin games

June 22 - House teams begin games (10U & 12U softball may start earlier - we are waiting communication from their league)

July 24 - T-Ball & PW6 End of Season Games Under the Lights!

July 25 - All Star Games for 8U softball, Rookie, Minor, Major, & Pony as well as Bucky Marshall Awards for all house teams and Bucky Marshall Scholarship Award Presentation

July 27-31 - House league tournament for 8U softball, Rookie, Minor, Major, & Pony

July 28 & August 3 - Tryouts for next year's (2020-2021) travel softball teams

August 1, 11, & 12 - Tryouts for next year's (2020-2021) travel baseball teams

We have quite a few families, coaches and board members who are excited to start the season.  I am confident if everyone does their part to keep everyone safe, we will have a successful season.  I do appreciate everyone’s patience.

Thank you,
Tim McGrady
PABSC President

COVID-19 PABSC Season Update - April 23, 2020

PABSC Players, Parents, Families, and Coaches,

Today, we were notified by the city of Perrysburg that they would be closing all sports fields until June 15.  That notification will obviously push back our season start.  Their notification is attached to this email for you to view.  The city did let us know that they would continue to evaluate their plan to see if it is possible to get us on the fields earlier in a safe manner.  We continue to remain very optimistic, after talking with the city, that we will be able to play baseball and softball this season once that June 15 date arrives.  This will mean some additional changes to our season dates.

Our Executive Board will be meeting this week to determine new dates for some of our season events, such as Opening Day and end of year games/tournaments.  We are also putting together a plan to ensure that we are following appropriate guidelines such as social distancing, hand hygiene, and sanitizing of equipment once June 15 gets here.  While we are excited for the baseball/softball season to get underway, our priority is the health and safety of all of our players, coaches, and families.

Our board will be sending another email to you within the next week with the new season dates based on a June 15 start as well as our plans for keeping your child safe when they are on the fields at that time following guidelines set from the governor's office.  We feel confident that we will still be able to get a full season in even with the later start.  Fortunately, we will now miss the cancellations for April snow days!

Thank you all for your patient and understanding during this time.  As you know, we are a volunteer-run non-profit organization.  Our mission is to see our players out and enjoying their time on the baseball/softball fields this summer once it is safe to do so and we do appreciate all of your help in making that mission happen.  We want to provide some "normalcy" to these kids summer!

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our President, Tim McGrady at [email protected].  Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you all soon.

4/6/20

PABSC Players, Parents, Families, and Coaches,

Our Executive Board has been continuing to monitor the recommendations and statements issued by the governor as well as looked at what procedures other youth sports organizations have put in place with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.  While we are excited for the baseball/softball season to get underway, our priority is the health and safety of all of our players, coaches, and families.

At this time, we remain very optimistic that the situation will improve and we will be able to play baseball and softball this season with some changes to our originally scheduled dates.  We would like to provide as much normalcy for our players as we can with all the chaos they have had to endure during this pandemic and we know they are all anxious to get back on the fields.Based on the latest changes to the Governor's Stay at Home order, here are the changes we have made to the season calendar:

May 4 - Practices will start for travel softball/baseball teams

May 11 - Practices will start for house softball/baseball

May 30 - Opening Day!

Week of July 20-24 - League Tournaments for Rookie, Minor, Major, and Pony

Picture Day, Mudhens Day, All Star games, Bucky Marshall awards, and the end of season games for T-ball and PW6 are still in the planning phases at this time.  Once those dates are set, that information will be sent out.  Our 10U, 12U, and 14U softball teams as well as Colt baseball may have some slight changes to this schedule based on information forthcoming from the outside league they play in.

Please keep in mind that these dates are tentative and are subject to change based on governor's orders and recommendations.

In this unprecedented and unusual time, and as the weather gets warmer, we encourage you to get out into your backyards and play ball with your families, as you're able.  This is an optimal time for parents and siblings to spend with their ball players to keep them moving and improve strength and conditioning.  Above all, PABSC hopes that each and every family is staying safe and well during this time..We will continue to review all new recommendations by the governor and will update families if we need to make any changes to our current plan.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our President, Tim McGrady at [email protected].  Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you all on the fields next month!
