Updated COVID-19 Information

SMLL COVID-19 Update #5

With the recent announcement of school closures and the phased recovery plan set forth by the state of Maryland, St. Mary’s Little League has no choice but to cancel the Spring 2020 season.

Your child’s safety is our  #1 priority for St. Mary’s Little League, and we aim to provide each player a quality experience on the ballfield. However, current restrictions, social distancing and limits on social gatherings prevent us from doing that.

This season cancellation is much bigger than baseball and softball. It’s about keeping our community safe so we can get back to what we’ve been missing.

Each VP will be reaching out to you in the next 7 days to offer you the following options moving forward:

  • Refund your payment (less unrecoverable costs)

  • Transfer your payment to the fall season

  • Donate your payment to the league (deduction on taxes)

When discussing options with your VP, if you choose the refund option, please understand the following:

  • We will be able to process refunds via PayPal, CashApp or check

  • Refunds could take up to a few months to process depending on your preference for refund

  • There are a few unrecoverable sunk costs associated with every registration that we can’t recoup for the season. Refunds will be less these small costs of your registration amounts per division (Little League International Charter fees, insurance fees, credit card processing fees, website maintenance, etc.). Here is a breakdown of the small costs that will be subtracted per each refund request:

    • Rookie and Intermediate T-Ball Divisions: Minus $10

    • Pony/Rookie/Minors Divisions (Softball and Baseball): Minus $11

    • Majors (Softball and Baseball): Minus $13

    • Intermediates, Junior/Senior (Softball and Baseball): Minus $15

With over 800 kids in your local Little League, we ask for your patience through this process as we begin to refund or transfer over your kiddos.

Some divisions will explore options to host some type of program over the summer if local and state guidelines allow. Your division VP will have more info on what that will look like when they reach out to you in the coming days.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please reach out to your division VP. Their contact info can be found at this link: https://sports.bluesombrero.com/Default.aspx?tabid=1001707

Take care of yourself and each other, thank you for your continued patience, we miss you and we look forward to seeing all of your kiddos out on the ballfield in the future!

SMLL COVID-19 Update #4

With the recent announcement and guidance from the state of Maryland, St. Mary's Little League will be postponing our season until further notice. We will continue to adhere to State and Local restrictions while working contingency plans as new information is made available.

This does not mean the season is cancelled, it only means that the season will look and feel a little different! Any format we pursue will be in line with Little League International guidance and rules.

How different? That's where you come in! Our board is ironing out a few options to get your kiddos back on the ball field when it is safe to do so, and we'll be sending out a survey next week to get your feedback on a way forward!

The safety of our community is our #1 priority every season! From the 3-year-old kiddos just getting started to the 16-year-old vets; from the fans in the stands to the umpires calling the games; WE are all in this together!

And together, we're going to find a way forward for this season that might feel a little different, but feature all the things we've been missing: each other!

We completely understand the concerns you have for getting this season started, but rest assured our survey will help determine a way forward for our league.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to your division VP.

Take care of yourself and each other, thank you all for your continued patience and we are all in this together!

SMLL COVID-19 Update #3

St. Mary's Little League is still on track with getting our season started on Thursday, April 30.

The safety of our players and their family is of the utmost importance, and we will continue to monitor all COVID-19 announcements and guidance provided to us by our governing bodies.

Each VP is still hard at work behind the scenes figuring out how a shortened season will look, and our board is working with our Little League District 7 representatives to help iron out those details.

Thank you, SMLL parents, for your patience and continued support! We're just as excited as you are to get this season started, and would like to do so with a happy and healthy community.

SMLL COVID-19 Update #2

Per CDC recommendations and local guidance, the St. Mary's Little League Board of Directors has voted to extend our current season DELAY to Thursday, April 30. With that delay, we also have to reschedule our Opening Day Ceremony to a later date.

Please keep in mind that this date is fluid, and can change if more measures are put into place to combat the spread of this virus.

This delay is less about baseball and softball, and more about COMMUNITY! The same community that shows up each and every ball game to cheer on our kiddos! The same community that donates countless hours to make sure each child gets the experience of a lifetime!

And we, as a community, need to come together to combat the spread of this virus the best way we can by following guidelines and recommendations set forth by the CDC and other governing bodies.

Please be patient with us as our Board of Directors start planning what this shortened season will look like when we get back on the ball field.

Be sure to follow our Facebook page and check your email for further updates, and please remember to take care of each other during these difficult, but necessary measures.

SMLL COVID-19 Update #1

With the recent spread of the COVID-19 virus across the country, and per Little League International's recommendation, the Board of Directors for St. Mary's Little League have voted to DELAY the start of the season until Monday, April 6, effective IMMEDIATELY.

Near the end of this delay, we will reevaluate the effects of the virus on our community and adjust our season accordingly.

I understand the impact this may have on your schedule, especially for our competitive divisions. However, this is less about baseball and softball, and more about coming together as a community in protecting ALL of our members, from our t-ballers to our volunteers and parents.

This virus has caused a disruption to our every day lives, but it's of the utmost importance that we take care of each other by following these protective measures, just like we do on the ballfield.

We're working closely with our Little League District 7 representative to iron out a way forward after this delay, so please be patient with us as we get the season reorganized.

For questions, comments or concerns, please direct them to your division VP, listed at the following link:

Be safe, take care of each other, and we look forward to getting this season started!
