Memphis LOBOS - Women’s Premier Soccer League
Memphis LOBOS participate in the Southeast Conference of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL). The WPSL is the largest women's soccer league in the world with over 100 teams in the US, Puerto Rico & Mexico. The league is the 2nd level of women's soccer in the US soccer pyramid, below National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).
It is an independent, highly competitive national summer league whose main focus is the development of high level female soccer players. WPSL teams roster college, post-college and elite High School players.
“This is a project we’ve discussed for several years but all the pieces finally came together over the last 12 months” said Paul Furlong, CSA Lobos Rush Executive Director. He continued, “A big part of our program is developing players for College soccer. The addition of a WPSL team gives us a chance to continue that development even after they graduate the LOBOS RUSH program”.
The team will be called the Memphis LOBOS and will compete against teams from Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Birmingham, Atlanta and West Florida. All home games will be played on the Houston High School varsity soccer field (located behind the Houston Middle School at 9400 Wolf River Blvd, Germantown, TN 38139) and the Head Coach for the 2019 season will be James Beattie, [email protected]
