Player Registration Form
All coaches must keep a hand-signed of each Player Registration form for all their players during all AYSO activities. This form provides emergency treatment authorization in the event of a sudden illness or injury and contains vital emergency contact information. It also contains player and parent contact information and should be treated as confidential and secured appropriately
Practices
- Remember you are not babysitters. Make sure there is a parent or guardian during practice and games for every child. You are there to coach, not to watch a child.
- Use the approved age-appropriate training curriculum to help you plan your practice drills
- Arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to your scheduled practice to give you time to set up your practice area.
- Remind parents and players at practice of next game time. That way both parents and players know what time to arrive.
- Ask parents and players to arrive at least 30 minutes before game to have players check in and assure you have game snacks available.
- Make sure you have your player registration forms and first aid kit.
Game Day
- Make sure you have your player registration forms and first aid kit.
- Make sure your players have brought water to the game so they can stay well-hydrated.
- Remind your parents to be cheerleaders and not coaches. Children will not know who to listen to.
- Fill out the game card and hand it to the referee. Click here for a copy of the game card. Please note you need to print both front and back.
- When you are ready to enter the field, take a moment to check if fields are free of debris and/or any hazards.
- Introduce yourself to other Coach, Assistant Coach and Referees.
- Stay within your Coaches box during the game and keep your comments to the referee to a minimum. They are volunteers too.
- LOUD UNSPORTSMANLIKE BEHAVIOR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED FROM BOTH PARENTS AND COACHES.
- All players must play 75% of the game or three quarters.
- The goalie must play at least one quarter on the field in order for their overall game to develop.
- Make sure to give positive encouragement and direction. Keep your comments to a minimum during the game so that it carries more weight. Give short tidbits of information to your players. Always be positive. As your players get older, you can talk to them in more detail.
- At end of game make sure all trash is picked up left by your team.Make sure all players leave with an adult family member and/or guardian and stay until all your players have left.
- Make sure to sign your game cards at the end of the game.
