Baseball

HLLA Baseball is for boys from ages 6-14. Please consult the official little league age chart for more details. Below you will find descriptions of baseball leagues. For registration information, please click here.

Juniors

The Intermediate of 50/70 division (Juniors) of baseball is intended for those players league age 12-14. This year HLLA will field one team in this division and that team will play games against intermediate teams from Elkton and Broadway. Home games are on Field 3 at Purcell Park (the back of the two fields on the side of Black's Run nearest to the Hillside Ave. parking lot) while away games are at Elkton Town Park and Broadway's Heritage Park.

Majors

The Major League division of baseball is intended for those players league age 11-12 born between 5/1/2002 and 4/30/2004 (consult the official little league age chart for more details). In practice, HLLA places some players who are league age 11 into our Minor League division if they have not had much experience playing baseball before or there are other circumstances which make this the right choice. The decision on where to place a player is solely at the discretion of the HLLA board in consultation with the parents, coaches, and league coordinators.

HLLA typically fields around 2 teams in the majors division. These teams practice approximately twice a week during the pre-season. They typically play two games a week during the season up through the first week of June. Many of these games are on Field 1 at Purcell Park (the field nearest to the Hillside Ave. parking lot), but many are also played at away sites with neighboring little league teams such as Bridgewater, Broadway, Grottoes, or others.
Teams as selected by coaches in a draft format. To properly assess each player's skill level, we ask that after registering you bring them to the skills evaluation on Saturday, March 7 at Waterman Elementary.

After the draft, you will be contacted by your coach about when practices will start..

Minors

The Minor League division of baseball is intended for those players league age 9-10, born between 5/1/2004 and 12/31/2006 (consult the official little league age chart for more details). In rare cases, HLLA sometimes will move players who are league age 11 or league age 8 into this division if there are circumstances which make this the right choice. The decision on where to place a player is solely at the discretion of the HLLA board in consultation with the parents, coaches, and league coordinators.

HLLA typically fields around 4 teams in the minors division. These teams practice approximately twice a week during the pre-season. They typically play two games a week during the season up through the first week of June. Almost all of these games are on Field 1 at Purcell Park (the field nearest to the Hillside Ave. parking lot), though each year one of two games may be played at away sites with neighboring little league teams such as New Market/Mt. Jackson, Luray, or others.
