Ardsley Youth Tackle Football

Tackle Football Season – Starts Monday, August 19th – 6:00pm
Our tackle football teams will play in the WYFBL. We will have 3rd/4th grade and 5th/6th grade teams. Players will learn how to catch, pass, block and learn positions on the field. Our coaches are concerned about safety for all players and they will teach the proper techniques of tackling to each child. WYFBL rules are geared to ensure safe play for all children. Weight limits are set for each position to protect all players. Practices will take place at least three times per week and games will be played on weekends. Teams will travel to different towns to play away games. All players will receive equipment including: helmet, shoulder pads, rib guards, face masks, personalized team jersey and a mouth guard provided by Ardsley Orthodontics. You will need to buy game, practice pants, practice jersey and an additional mouth guard.
HELMET: YOU WILL HAVE THE OPTION TO BUY YOUR OWN HELMET. We will have more information at our first practice.
Cost: $290 per player. Price increases after June 30th.

Starts: Monday, August 19th, 2013 WYFBL stipulates specific age and weight limits. These are strictly followed for the safety of the children. Weigh ins will be conducted by the league. Each division roster has a maximum number of available spots. Tackle Teams carry a maximum of 28 players each. Roster spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.

Tackle Footbal Information:
Who can play? Tackle football is open to boys and girls in 3rd through 6th grade. Teams will consist of 3rd/4th grade players and 5th/6th grade players. Tackle football is a contact game and is highly physical. Weight limits are set in each position and rules are enforced to ensure the safety of all players.
Where and when do we play? All home games are played at Ardsley High School. Away games are played at various towns including Dobbs Ferry, Rye, Yonkers and Ossining. Games are played on weekends and vary according to schedule. Home games will be played on Saturday or Sunday.
When are practices? Practices start on Monday, August 19th at 6PM. Tackle teams will practice every day for the first two weeks. (If you are on vacation – we will catch your children up with practices – the league mandates that children must attend at least 10 practices before they can play in their first game). After the first two weeks, practice schedules will depend on the availability of the coaching staff. If there is a conflict with religious school, please inform your team coach. All practices will be held at Ardsley High School.
When do we start? Our first practice will be held on Monday, August 19th at Ardsley High School on the middle field next to the bleachers. Practice will start 6:00 PM. Players will be fitted for their personalized jersey at this time. Please wear loose clothing, cleats.
