-----------
Happy New Year KMLL Community,
We are so excited to announce Spring Ball Player Assessments and info for the season! Please see the important dates and information for player assessments below.
PLAYER ASSESSMENTS
All baseball players league ages 8-12 MUST complete a player evaluation to be placed on a team. During the evaluation, the player will be asked to do their best at the following skills: Running, Infield, Outfield, Pitching, and Batting. We will also have assessments for league ages 5-7. Players League Age 4 do not need to be assessed as they can only play in T-ball for safety reasons.
The total registration count and coaches available/assigned to the division will also have an impact on division assignments.
The purpose of the assessments is to #1, ensure a safe environment for all players, and #2 play in the proper division level based on skills. The goal is for players to have a positive baseball experience. It is the Little League’s policy to place players on evenly skilled teams in order to create diverse, competitive teams.
When & Where
The player assessments will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 1pm* at our sister league’s, Serra Mesa, fields at Cabrillo Heights Neighborhood Park 8308 Hurlbut St San Diego 92123. We are so grateful to have great neighbors who will share their fields with us! The Kearny Mesa park fields will be not available to KMLL until mid-February. Having assessments in January will enable KMLL to have plenty of time for players to practice before opening day and have time to get uniforms ready.
Saturday, January 20, 2024, arrival at 1pm*

*Weather Permitting
Please note, that the date of the assessment may be impacted by weather. We ask for your patience if we need to reschedule the assessments if the fields are wet and unsafe for play. Safety is the board’s #1 priority. We will do our best to communicate as far in advance as possible. Sometimes the call to post-pone is made after arrival to the fields. We are in this together and thank you in advance for your understanding.

WHAT LITTLE LEAGUE AGE IS MY CHILD?
Knowing your players' 2024 Little League League Age is very important. Division placement and age requirements for divisions are based on the League Age chart - CLICK HERE.
REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Additionally, this is a chance to review the documents/information required to verify residency and player age. Your player will not be able to participate in assessments until registered online.
Documents You MUST Bring*
-
Proof Residency: 3 forms from different categories or proof of school attendance
-
Birth Certificate, Original or Certified
*Players who played in All-Stars last season do not need to provide new residency and age verification forms since they have been certified for all future seasons as long as they remain in the league.
TEAM ASSIGNMENTS
Teams are usually formed within a week or two of tryouts. This process is subject to the league having enough coaches who have volunteered to coach that season.
After the draft process, your coach will contact the players once he/she has a final roster in hand. The coach will let you know when and where practices are, and will quite possibly have a team meeting to start the season and get you all the information you need.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
This is a kind reminder that KMLL is a 100% volunteer organization. The success of KMLL depends on parent participation and just like any little league, we need all the help we can get. There are so many ways to give back to our league from coaching, team parent, scorekeeper, board member, etc. Many of us will help in different ways. Whether it’s scorekeeping, dug-out help, field prep, etc. everyone must complete a volunteer application and background check to ensure our players and league are safe and compliant with regulations/rules.
Make a difference in the lives of the kids of this League and sign up today to volunteer! For more information on volunteering, click here.
Please let us know if you have any questions, suggestions, etc. This is a team-effort!
Positively,
Board of Directors
