The Need To Improving Inner City Baseball

I believe that if we start properly training youth baseball players at an early age they will stick with it. When I come across players that have participated in organized baseball for several years and can't catch or throw, I  don't fault the player. I look at the coach for not teaching and program for allowing it to happen. Everyone has an opinion on why baseball participation is down in inner city programs. I believe if you don't put anything in you get nothing out. Many groups feel their success is based on the number of participants. This make no sense if they stop playing by age 12. This is why so many High School programs are suffering. We have to bring quality and affordable baseball back to our inner city.     Segregation is a part of a culture which has been promoted to the point of destroying our programs. Why can't all the children learn to play together now? We as leaders and parents should not tolerate this. I started a pony program to help the situation, not to harm the local little leagues. We can coexist. My goals are to promote quality baseball and prepare young people for high school and beyond. Or would you prefer them to hang out? I have to tell people all the time, if it was about me "wouldn't my name be on the sign".   This is my opinion and rant for today.
