Expectations of our Coaches

Expectations of our Coaches:

Thank you so much for volunteering your time and energy to being a Lexington Soccer coach.  Coaching soccer in Lexington is an excellent opportunity and commitment.  Here are some of the responsibilities of coaching a soccer team for Lexington.

  1. Familiarize yourself with the LSA website @ http://lexsoccer.org.  This will be your main guide to completing most of your coaching needs.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the AYSA website @ http://aysasoccer.org.  The AYSA is the soccer league the LSA is affiliated with and competes against.
  3. Complete Concussion training and a Risk Management application.  [Concussion/Risk Management Page]
  4. Familiarize yourself with the rules of soccer and small sided fields.  [Laws of the Game Page]
  5. Make contact with players and coaches.  Rosters will be available around the first of August.  You will have access to email and phone numbers of the players on your team.  (This is extremely important; many players will be excited to know who their coaches are.)
  6. Encourage your players to attend the LSA camp.  [LSA Soccer Camp]
  7. Schedule practices.  [LSA Practice Page]
  8. Manage Equipment.  The LSA provides uniforms for the players along with game ball.  The LSA Vice President is in charge of equipment.
  9. Please verify and communicate jersey sizes of your players to our Vice President and he will make sure all uniforms are ordered.  Please complete this the first week in August.  He will be ordering team jerseys during the fall season.  These jerseys will be used for the fall and spring seasons.  Vice Presidents information is listed at: [Board of Directors]
  10. Recognize possible team sponsors. [LSA Sponsor Page]
  11. Participate in the 3v3 tournament during the Lexington Blueberry Festival.
  12. Attend the AYSA Mandatory Coach’s Meeting @ the Mid-Ohio Conference Center.  One representative from each team must attend.  This meeting is usually held the last Saturday in August.
  13. Make sure your team shows up for pictures.
  14. Complete a Season Summary form for both the fall and spring soccer seasons.  [Season Summary Page]
  15. End of season party!
