The Importance of Recreation Soccer

Whether 4 years old or 15 years old, recreation soccer plays an important role in the lives of young children all the way though adolescence.

Not only does recreation soccer offer an opportunity to build community relationships, it offers an opportunity for kids to get out and build relationships of their own with other kids their age, as well as build their levels of physical fitness.  This same physical fitness could be a benefit during the long term lifetime of a child, having been correlated to a better overall adult health.

Our recreation program will focus on those key pillars, relationships and physical fitness, for the younger ages.  We will also be putting a focus on overall player development in preparation for those that continue on to a more competitive soccer environment such as high school or travel soccer programs.

Recreation soccer provides the base of all soccer programs in terms of player development and players learning the necessary skills to be successful at higher levels.  Without a strong recreation program, players will not be able to be competitive at those levels as they lack the experience and training necessary to compete at that level.  Whether a lack of training or experience, other players simply have been playing soccer much longer and gaining a wide array of abilities that will cause they to be far more advanced than their opposition.

In our recreating program, in the U4-U8 groups we will be putting emphasis simply on player development and physical fitness.  Following guidelines set forth by USYS, we will be working with players on simple ball control and skills necessary to play the game.  We will not be focusing on wins and losses, rather just having the kids get out and play the game and allow them to develop relationships, fitness, and have fun.

In the upper ages, U9-U15, we will be putting a slight bit more importance on competitive nature, but we will not place that as our sole focus.  We will still be working hard to develop the players as best as possible through providing a safe, and quality, environment for kids to play in a competitive setting.

All of these aspects that children experience in recreation soccer are crucial to the preparation of soccer players to play at a higher level.  It takes time and experience to be able to have a 15 year old ready for high school soccer, club travel soccer, or the collegiate level and this experience cannot be replicated without an organized program in place.

Please take the time to review our recreational program and consider getting your child out today and getting them involved.  We will begin registration in February (February 16th) for the Spring program and would love to have everyone from our community involved.
