The Colorado Storm Competitive program is always looking for ways of improving its player identification and developmentally appropriate player placement. To this end, we firmly believe the body of work is a greater indication of a player's current level than any given moment. With this in mind, the Colorado Storm would like to clearly communicate its new placement procedures and expectations for the 2017-18 teams being formed this summer.
Why is this so important?
We want ALL Storm player and parents to know all the important dates and deadlines ahead of time.
It should be noted that all our new U11 teams (2007's) will still be following a formal open tryout process as this is the best way to establish proper player placement for the first year in our highly successful competitive program.
Important Dates
- MAY 15th -- Deadline for U11-U14 players to receive written evaluations from the team coach.
- MAY 22nd -- Deadline for coaches meeting to finalize the Fall 2017 rosters for players currently on a Storm team.
- MAY 23rd -- Deadline for players to receive an email or phone call regarding their offered placement for the Fall 2017 team. An invitation email with specific instructions for accepting the spot will go out to the primary email address.
- MAY 30th, 12:00 Noon -- Deadline for players to accept their position on the team. Following the instructions of the player placement email on May 23rd, each player will accept their spot by contacting the coach, registering and paying the 1st payment towards the Fall 2017 fees.
- After May 30th, if a player has not secured their spot per the above instructions, the roster position is no longer guaranteed and can be offered to players from both inside and outside of the club.
- If you plan on trying out outside of the club, we highly recommend that you notify your current coach and Director PRIOR to the deadline so that the expectations and communication plan can be clearly established.
- May 30th - June 1st -- Tryouts for the club (U11-14 Boys, and U11-U18 Girls) will take place. In order to evaluate the new players to the club, we will ask our Premier teams to attend the tryout. The Premier team players WILL NOT be evaluated at this time, they are only there to help us accurately evaluate the players who are new to the club.
- Week of June 5th -- Team meetings will begin (specific day/time/location for each team TBD). The team meeting will be used to introduce the new players and communicate the team plan and expectations for the year.
