Referee Guidelines

Three referees are scheduled for each game. If only 2 refs show up for the game, the game can be refed with only 2 refs. Please make a note on the backside of your Referee Pay Card that only 2 refs were at the game.

UNRULY OR ABUSIVE COACHES, PARENTS OR PLAYERS
Referees please email [email protected] to let us know about any situation that needs our attention. Also, use the back side of your pay card to make any written comments regarding the game. Please be specific, include as much information as possible. If known, include game date, game location, game time, league involved, teams involved, and the names of coaches and/or players involved.

Coaches are, on occasion, allowed to CALMLY speak with you about a call or ruling, but under NO CIRCUMSTANCES are they ever to raise their voice or lose control. If a coach starts to act unprofessionally, immediately warn them that they are in danger of being asked to leave the field, then walk away and continue the game. If a coaches bad behavior continues ask him or her to leave the field. If at any time you feel the game is out of control, blow your whistle loudly, end the game and walk away.

Fans, especially parents, are NOT allowed to question or comment on your calls. Fans should only concentrate on cheering positive comments to players. If a fan or parent is acting unprofessionally bring it to the coaches attention. The coach should then speak with the unruly fan.

Players are NOT allowed to question or comment on your calls. If a player is harassing you, stop the game and speak with the coach. Warn the coach that if the player continues commenting or questioning your calls he or she will be ejected from the game. Remember that some player comments may just be a child expressing disappointment on a call and he or she is not trying to harass you.
