Vernon Youth Soccer Travel Program
Vernon Soccer offers four state-of-the-art full-sided turf fields. All full-sided home games are played on turf with lights available at all fields.
We compete in the MCYSA, JAGS, MAPS, EDP & NPL; some teams also participate in League Cup, State Cup, NJ Cup and various tournaments throughout the year.
Vernon Youth Soccer has both travel and premier level soccer available for many age groups.
Vernon Soccer PREMIER Teams
Participation in a Premier team requires a full year/four season commitment. Premier teams participate in primarily JAGS, EDP, NPL or CJYSA MAPS Leagues, carry US Club passes and play in State or National Cups and multiple tournaments. They train through the winter and potentially play a summer season. These teams likely train more frequently than traditional travel teams. Fees are team based and vary by each team, contact individual coaches for additional details.
Vernon Soccer TRAVEL Teams
Vernon Soccer travel teams participate in the Morris County Youth Soccer Association. Games are usually on Sundays, occasionally on Saturdays. You will have home games and away games each season. Away games could require an hour or more of travel time from Vernon. Games will be played on Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and other holidays so your commitment to playing travel soccer may alter how you spend some of these days.
ALL travel teams practice two times per week; one night is with a professional trainer from a Professional Training Program, for 1½ hours. Occasionally, teams may add extra practice as needed or participate in scrimmages. Each team will receive Professional training sessions per season. Additional fees may vary per team, for various tournaments or additional training.
Vernon Soccer Mini-Viking Teams
Vernon Soccer Mini-Vikings teams participate in the Morris County Youth Soccer Association. Games are usually on can vary from Saturday or Sundays. Games are run in Festival style (Multiple 15 min 4v4 games, ran back to back over the course of a 1.5 hr. period). Games could require an hour or more of travel time from Vernon. Games will be played on Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and other holidays so your commitment to playing travel soccer may alter how you spend some of these days. Teams will train 1-2x per week. Occasionally, teams may add extra practice as needed or participate in scrimmages.
This is our U8 program and the age group can vary from 5 years old to 8 years old.
Developmental Player Program
Developmental player status is for those players who can benefit from participating in all practice, training sessions and scrimmages with an existing MCYSA travel team but may not have yet reached the ability or commitment level required by that team. These players will not participate in games or tournaments and will not be required to purchase a uniform. If at any time a coach has a need for players or wants to add to their roster, they first look to “pull-up” their developmental players. All developmental players are eligible to play in-town. Developmental players are required to pay a developmental fee in addition to VS Registration.
Travel Tryouts
Each existing travel and premier team may hold tryouts during the month of April or May or individually throughout their seasons. If you are new to travel or would like to be considered for developmental player status, contact Michael Canal, VP/Director of Travel at [email protected]. Every player wanting to tryout will be required to register via VS club portal.
No player should be left out for financial reasons.
