How to Register as a Volunteer

All AYSO volunteers who interact with players or other minors are required to register as volunteers for each membership year (August 1 to July 31).

Verify Identity

  • If you are 18 or older, bring a photo ID to a training course, registration event, Town Hall Meeting, or a coach/ref meeting, or as otherwise instructed by the CVPA or a Regional Board Member.
  • If you are younger than 18, please be acompanied with your parent or guardian (with a photo ID) to a training course, registration event, Town Hall Meeting, or a coach/ref meeting, or as otherwise instructed by the CVPA or a Regional Board Member. A photo ID is not required for the youth.

Safe Haven course also required

All volunteers are required to take the Safe Haven course, a one-time requirement. This entails taking a course online and passing a test at the end, about an hour of your time. It is all part of ensuring that every volunteer understands and follows AYSO's philosophies to keep the game Safe, Fair and Fun. Safe Haven training recently (mid-2012) added information about Concussions, so even if you've taken Safe Haven before, you must take the new course. To do this:
  1. Go to AYSO Training
  2. Log in using the AYSO ID you received when you registered via eayso.
  3. Click on COURSES in the menu bar
  4. Click on SAFE HAVEN - Course MT02
  5. Take the course

When you pass the test the system will automatically register your certification. You will be able to see it in eayso under your profile's certifications on the Safe Haven tab. You no longer need to print it and turn it in to anyone.

Help get the word out to other parents as we are always in need of volunteers. Utilize this flier to help assist you in your volunteer marketing and recruitment endeavors.

Concussion Training

The AYSO concussion online training course is required for ALL AYSO volunteers. The training course, which should take 45-60 minutes, is available by visiting AYSO Training Online. Log in using your last name and AYSO ID number.

Ode To A Volunteer

Many will be shocked to find
When the Day of Judgment nears
That there's a special place in Heaven
set aside for volunteers.

Furnished with big recliners,
Satin couches and footstools
Where there's no committee chair,
No group leaders or carpools.

Telephone lists will be outlawed
But a finger snap will bring
Cool drinks and gourmet dinners,
And rare treats fit for a king.

You ask,
Who'll serve the privileged few
And work for all they're worth?
Why, those who reaped benefits
And not once volunteered on earth.
