AYSO is 100% Volunteer Driven
Our region needs your help!
AYSO is a 100% volunteer-run organization. All of our coaches, referees and administrators are volunteers. Over 220,000 parents, neighbors, relatives and friends nationally lend their time and talents so that each child gets a terrific AYSO experience.
It only takes a few hours to become qualified as an introductory-level coach or referee. But if you're not able to commit even that much time, there are many small jobs you can help with. Even a couple of hours each season are an important contribution to your team and Region!
AYSO training doesn't stop as long as you're having fun. Referees, coaches and administrators have clinics, workshops and other advanced training available to advance their skills.
Volunteers are needed in the following positions:
Coaches
Coaching children is a very rewarding experience. And coaching your own child's team can be one of the most rewarding experiences of all! Coaches are pivotal to having children get the AYSO experience. If Regions don't have enough coaches, registration is scaled back, and kids who want to play in AYSO are turned away.
Do you have little or no experience with soccer? No problem! AYSO will teach you based on the age level you are coaching. Unique age-appropriate coach training is one of AYSO's specialties. If you plan to be at your child's soccer practices and games, you'll also have time to be your child's coach.
To become an AYSO coach, you must be certified in the age level you are coaching. Certification takes three easy steps. First, fill out a volunteer form. Then either attend a short Safe Haven™ course in person or online. Lastly, you must attend a brief age-specific coaching course. It's only a few hours.
Contact your Region's Coach Administrator or Regional Commissioner if you are ready to become a coach.
Assistant Coaches
An Assistant coach assists the head coach in running drills, attending practice, stepping in if the Coach in unable to attend a game or practice. Assistant coaches are also encouraged to successfully complete an appropriate clinic.
Referees
Referees need to take a referee class and sign up for at least one game per week. This is the perfect job for someone who wants to be involved, but cannot commit the time to coach or for a coach that wants to be more involved with their other children in AYSO.
