Registration for the 2018 Season

Registration for the 2018 Boys Sand Volleyball Season will open on December 1, 2017.

St. Edward CYO Eligibility Requirements

IMPORTANT NOTE ON ST. EDWARD CYO ELIGIBILITY
To be a part of a St. Edward CYO team, your athlete must meet one of the following eligibility requirements as set forth by the Oakland Diocese:

  • Enrolled as a student of St. Edward School
  • Enrolled in St. Edward Parish Faith Formation
  • Reside within the St. Edward Parish boundaries, which is within the city of Newark, but north of Mowry Avenue.
    • Newark residents south of Mowry Avenue are within the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish boundaries and are ineligible to join St. Edward CYO, but are eligible to join OLG CYO.

General Program Information

  • Sand Volleyball is open to boys grades 5-8.
  • Girls are eligible to participate only if they did not participate in the Girls CYO volleyball season.
  • Participants must attend St. Edward School, St. Edward Parish Faith Formation, or reside within St. Edward Parish boundaries.
  • Teams consist of four players on the court.  League games will be played according to the rules of the National Federation of State High School Associations with the following CYO Rule Exceptions. Please click here to read the exceptions.
  • The League is “Low Key” with no standings during league play.

Game and Practice Schedules

Game Schedules
  • Games are held each Sunday from early April until mid-may (except we play on the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend).
  • Practice Schedules
    • Practices start early March, held at the Quarry Lakes outdoor sand volleyball courts. 
    • Practices are generally 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, two days a week.

    St. Edward School parents earn service hour points for assisting with CYO.

    SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING

    ALL adults participating in CYO activities must complete diocesan Safe Environment Training. Only an adult that has completed this training is allowed to run practices.

    The course must have been completed after July 1, 2016. One can access the training at http://www.shieldthevulnerable.org
