The United States Under-15 Girls’ National Team held a training camp combined with the U16 National Team from May 30-June 6 in Portland, Oregon. Bethesda’s own Makenna Morris and Jane Olcott both of the Bethesda Tempo were invited to participate with the U15 side.

"Being at the National Team Camp was one of the most exciting week's of my life.” Said Olcott, “I was really pumped and very honored to be there and it gave me goose-bumps when I put on the USA uniform!   The coaches, the players, the training, the meetings, everything about camp was special, it was an amazing experience."

Bethesda has prepared both girls well and Olcott, who has been apart of the Club since the age of 7, believes that her coaches have taught her a love of the game that spawned a love to train and compete. When asked what advice she could give to other girls looking to earn a spot at a Youth National Team Camp she said, “…[Walk] into every practice like it's a big game, so take your training seriously.  You're going to make mistakes, but own those mistakes.  If you don't, then you'll never learn from them."

Both Morris and Olcott will be traveling to Seattle Washington this weekend with the rest of their Bethesda teammates to take part in the ECNL National Finals after completing an undefeated league season. Olcott will hope to use what she learned at camp at the National Finals, “one of the biggest takeaways would be to take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way.  Be composed & bold and always jump at every opportunity you get!"
