Competitive season begins for VUFC teams

Valparaiso United FC teams have officially kicked off their season with the Labor Day weekend tournaments in Phoenix, AZ and Huntington Beach, CA.

Desert Elite Cup played host at Reach 11 Sports Complex to our teams this weekend.

The most successful were 02's Boys, who managed to win a very competitive top U13 division of the tournament.

97's Girls SK lost in the finals to the ECNL National Championship Sereno team.

01's Boys AC narrowly missed winning their division, although they won 3 games, tied 1, allowing only one goal in all four games.

Newly formed 99's Girls team started their season strong by making it to the semi finals of their division.

05's Boys made it to the semi finals as well.

Other teams played well, with special congrats to the 03's Boys team who have shown a very quick adaptation to the 11 a side full field game, as it was their first time ever playing full field/11 a side format.

Elsewhere, 01's Boys SK won 3 games and tied 1 at the prestigious North Huntington Beach Tournament in California. In a very competitive gold bracket, they missed advancing out of the group on a goal difference, finishing even on points with the team that advanced.

Most teams that did not compete this weekend will kick off their season next weekend at the Tuzos Tournament played at the Fear Farm Sports Complex.
