Offered Programs

T-Ball

The program is designed for all 5 and 6 year old boys and girls
to participate together and begin to learn the basic fundamentals of throwing, catching, and batting. A soft safety ball is used and all batting is done off a tee. Coaches are allowed to be on the field with the players during games to enable more one to one coaching during game situations. Participants are not separated by gender in this program.

Baseball

Rookie League

The Rookie Division is designed for 7-8 year old participants and is the second step in the progression through the various divisions of Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth Baseball. The participants will continue to work on the basic fundamentals of throwing, catching, and batting and will begin learning the rules and basic strategies of the game. This will be the first opportunity for participants to hit a moving ball during a game. All pitching is done using a pitching machine. The machine provides the opportunity to hit a moving ball at a consistent speed without the fear of being hit by the pitch.

Minors Division

This is primarily for 9-10 year olds and is the participants’ first opportunity to bat against live pitching. Fellow competitors pitch rather than using a pitching machine. Participants will continue to work on improving their skills in the basic fundamentals of throwing, catching, and hitting and will be introduced to some of the more complex strategies and game situations of baseball. Players will need to attend assessments at the Minors level.

Majors Division

The Major Division is designed primarily for 10-12 year olds and is expected to be the most competitive division of our Cal Ripken Baseball program. Along with continued work on basic fundamentals, players will work on all aspects of the more complex skills and strategies of baseball. All prospective players must attend an assessment to be eligible to participate in the Major Division. Teams are selected through a draft by the team managers/ coaches. There will be two divisions: Major 70s and Major 60s.
Major 70s
This is primarily for more advanced players.  Bases are 70 feet apart and there is leading off and stealing.  Pitchers will work from the stretch and catchers will throw 100 feet to 2nd base.  Players will be drafted onto a 70s team.
Majors 60s

Players not selected for the Majors 70s will be placed on a Major 60s team.  The Major 60s format is what East Boise has been using traditionally and the rules are set up to help players develop and learn the fundamentals of baseball in a competitive environment.

Babe Ruth League (Junior)
The Junior Division is designed primarily for 13-15 year olds and is associated with the Babe Ruth League.  All home games are played at Simplot Sports Complex in Columbia Village. Depending on the number of teams in our league, some travel for games may be required.
