Tournament Rules

2015 AYSO Fall Tournament Rules

All players must play at least three quarters of each game. Violation of these player rules renders them subject to forfeiture of game and possible disqualification at the discretion of the Commissioner.

Each team will play a minimum of 2 preliminary play games within their respective division.

There will be no coin toss. The home team chooses goal to defend and visitors kick off. The home team will supply game balls.

The home team will be situated on the West side of the field, and the visitor will be situated on the East side. Spectators must remain on the side of the field designated for their team.

All games will be 70 minutes for U14, 60 minutes for U12  and 50 minutes for U10, all with a five-minute half time.

For U-10 through U-14 divisions, points during preliminary play will be awarded using the following formula:
Six points for a win
Three points for a tie (to each team)
Zero points for a loss
One point for a shutout
One point per goal scored (up to 3)
One point deducted for each player or substitute sent off
Two points deducted for each coach expelled from the playing area

Examples:
In the event of a forfeit, the winning score shall be 1-0, with the winner awarded eight points.
In the event a team receives no points for a game in which a sendoff or expulsion has occurred, a negative point total shall be posted for that team for that game.

In the event of a 0-0 tie, each team will receive four points.

The top four teams in each division, where applicable, with the most points at the end of preliminary play will advance to the Semi Final round.

The first place team at the end of preliminary play will play the fourth place team in the Semi Final round.

The second place team at the end of preliminary play will play the third place team in the Semi Final round.

The winners of the Semi Final matches will play each other in the Final round.

If there is a tie in total points at the end of preliminary play, the following tie breaking rules, in the order listed, will be used to determine a winner:

Tournament Play Tie Breakers:

i.  Winner of head-to-head play.
ii. Number of shutouts.
iii. Least goals allowed.
iv. Least number of Send Offs.
v.  Least number of Cautions.
vi. Coin toss.

Ties in Semi Final & Final Rounds

Semi Final & Final matches tied at the end of regulation time will be broken as follows:
One complete overtime period will be played. Overtime kickoff will be determined by a coin toss.
U-14 One 9 minute period
U-12 One 7 minute period
U-10 One 5 minute period

If the game is still tied at the end of the overtime period, Kicks from the Penalty Mark as described in the FIFA Laws of the Game will be taken.

Only those players on the field at the end of the overtime period (or who are off the field of play with the referee’s permission) are eligible for participation. If, for any reason, one of the teams has fewer eligible players than the opposing team at the end of the overtime period, the opposing team shall reduce its numbers so that there will be an equal number from each team participating in the kicks from the mark. Any player thus excluded must be reported to the referee and is ineligible to participate in the kicks from the mark. The home team will call the toss of the coin by the referee. The team winning the coin toss has the choice of first or second kick. The first five players from each team shall take alternate shots.

If the match remains tied after the first five shooters, each team will, in turn, have an additional shooter and will alternate turns until a winner is determined. All eligible players (including the goalkeeper) must shoot once before any eligible player may take a second shot. When all eligible players on a team have taken a shot, and a second round is necessary, the order used in the first round need NOT be followed.

No protests are allowed.

Referee judgment calls are FINAL and are not grounds for nor subject to protest or dispute.

The Regional Commissioner retains the right to interpret and apply the tournament rules to the optimum benefit of all tournament participants. The Regional Commissioner's decisions are final.
