This registration event will be at Lahaina Intermediate School cafeteria Saturday June 25th, 2016 ~ 9am to 12pm. Pre-register on line at www.eayso.org then bring us your printed and signed application forms for a speedy process. All forms are required to be turned in for your child to be placed with a team. A few computers and printers will be available for use on site. There will be an equipment exchange at registration as well, so bring your used, serviceable and cleaned shin guards, balls and cleats to donate or exchange.o
We need parent volunteers to help in any capacity. We need behind the scenes assistance in order to keep our program thriving.
With coaches trained and in place, practices will begin by early August with Opening Games Saturday September 10th. Youth soccer programs have been viewed as merely a chance for young athletes to learn the game of soccer. As many parents know, there is more to AYSO than just soccer. As a National Organization going strong for 52 years, AYSO is highly recognized as a leader in youth sports. Our Vision is to “To provide world-class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives”. Our Mission Statement includes 6 philosophies that are truly child centered: Open Registration, Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development. In a nutshell, any child that has the desire to participate is allowed to play. We take great care in creating balanced teams so the competition is fun and fair! Registration is open to everyone regardless of experience, no tryouts. Our coaches set a positive example and are provided with free training and certifications that are accredited through the NCACE (National Council for Accreditation of Coaching Education). And always, good sportsmanship and player development are valued highly. Children in our program are not just learning to play soccer, they are learning valuable life skills like sportsmanship, being an exceptional team player, a good neighbor and citizen.
As with any volunteer organization, we are always in need of extra “hearts and hands”. Coaches and referees are the obvious volunteer options. Some training is provided online along with a follow-up field session with an experienced AYSO trainer. Our first coach training is Saturday, July 23rd, from 9am – 12pm at the main Lahaina Recreation Field. Referees and lineman are needed. If you or your child (youth volunteer) are interested in helping, the first step is registering as a volunteer at www.eayso.org. Once you get your AYSO ID# you can begin your training online. The follow-up referee completion course is scheduled for Saturday, August 6th from 9-12pm.
Our AYSO program requires many volunteers in order for the season to run smoothly. We are at a critical point and without active volunteers, we may not get through another season. It is easy to assume that someone else is handling it, however many hands do make light work. If you are busy, like everyone else, there are ways to help that take little time and can be done from home. When you bring your forms to us, please introduce yourself and tell us how you would like to “lend a hand”. Always remember, whether you are a coach, a board member, helping with publicity, or lining soccer fields, training will be provided. No experience is necessary! Rest assured, all AYSO volunteers have an annual background check, are trained and certified in AYSO’s child protection program called “Safe Haven”. And as with all things involving AYSO, your child is first and foremost.
Our AYSO Soccer Camp week starts Monday July 18th with a separate striker or goal keeper clinic on Saturday, July 23rd. Housing is needed for camp coaches and a Full Day Camp scholarship will be provided for host families. Check out the options for your player and sign-up at www.aysosoccercamps.org.
