The Story: Bellevue Community Fund & Why You Are Needed!

In 1990, when a widow faced foreclosure on her home, the Bellevue community stepped up to help a neighbor in trouble. Almost $30,000 was raised in a matter of months, a Charitable Trust was established, and the home was bought by the community. As a result, Donna Davis, a retired cafeteria worker at David Lipscomb, and her son were able to continue living in the family home.

Upon her death in 2005, the home as sold in a sealed-bid auction and the funds deposited until a plan on how to administer the $45,000 in proceeds was established.

In 2007, the Bellevue Community Fund was established with the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee with a goal of growing the fund and creating a pool of charitable dollars to support programs serving the Bellevue Community.

Last year, under the direction of the Trustees (Kay Johnson, Adam Dread, Tonya Jones and Charlie Tygard), funds were disbursed to the Bellevue Middle School Edible Learning Lab, the Friends of Warner Parks S.W.E.A.T. program, a Belle Forest Cir conservation/environmental project and the Harpeth Valley Elementary School garden.

There is so much more the Bellevue Community Fund can do and with the funds raised from our 3rd Annual Walk/Run we will do even more next year!  Thank you for your support.
