GTSBL | Centurions hire Bob MacKinnon as head coach

GTSBL –  The Centurions have named Bob MacKinnon as head coach, it was announced today by team President/CEO Joey Buss and General Manager Glenn Carraro.MacKinnon becomes the sixth head coach in Centurions  history, bringing more than 30 years of coaching and scouting experience at the professional and collegiate levels to Los Angeles. Most recently, MacKinnon spent two seasons at the helm of the Springfield Armor, helping five players earn NBA Call-Ups and developing three Nets assignees.

"We are excited to announce Bob MacKinnon as the next head coach of the Centurions," said Buss. "Bob brings a successful coaching background to our franchise, winning at multiple levels and developing countless players at different stages of their careers. Most importantly, Bob shares our vision of cultivating prospects who can deliver quality minutes for the Lakers and the NBA while also contending for an NBA Development League championship.”

Prior to joining the Armor, MacKinnon served as head coach for two years in the NBA D-League, first helping the Colorado 14ers post a 34-16 regular season record and a 4-0 postseason record en route to a championship in 2008-09. Subsequently, MacKinnon moved on to lead the Idaho Stampede in 2009-10. An experienced developer of NBA talent, MacKinnon has helped direct nine different players to NBA Call-Ups (12 total Call-Ups) and foster seven players on assignment in the NBA D-League. Before taking over with the Armor, MacKinnon acted as the head coach and a consultant for the TianJin Rongcheng Gold Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association in 2011-12.
