Memorial Weekend, May 2015
This past Memorial Day weekend, SDFC recorded a record 5 tournament wins and 1 finalist across the club in one weekend. SDFC teams returned home with silverware from the FC Delco Players Cup and Manalapan Tournament.

The FC Delco Players Cup - a premier level event for u9-u17 boys and girls - featured over 700 of the best teams in the country in its 15th year hosting the tournament in Pennsylvania.  With many great performances this weekend from all teams, the Gu11 Galaxy Yellow team and Bu9 Bayern were the teams that picked up championship medals.  The Galaxy Yellow, coached by Richard Bentley faced top National level competition from Albertson, Boston, Maryland and Miami before defeating Boston Breakers on penalty kicks in the final.  The Bu9 Bayern team, coached by Kieran Patrick, recovered from an opening game defeat to sweep their opponents from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York to qualify for Monday mornings final.  After a tense first half, the Bayern boys produced their best period of soccer in the tournament to beat STA from Morristown, NJ.

The Manalapan Memorial Day Tournament featured over 375 teams from the tri-state area.  SDFC left Manalapan with three championship winners and a runner up.  After conceding a late equalizer, the Bu7 Power - coached by Rob Leather - regained their composure to win the penalty shootout 3-0 against Arsenal u8's.  The Gu8 Inferno - coached by Lucas Loya - suffered a heartbreaking defeat in a PK shootout to take home second place.  Bu12 Boca - coached by Jake Forsythe - swept through the competition and played their best soccer in the fall to beat Monroe 2-1.  Bu13 Tigers - coached by Ashley Hammond - again went undefeated before beating Manalapan 2-0 in the final. 

After the Bu13 Tigers earned a 2-0 victory over the host team, Manalapan, Head coach Ashley Hammond enthused, "Having won the State Cup with the Panthera last weekend on the same fields I was so excited for the boys to keep the winning tradition going at the site. We had a small squad for the weekend and the heat took its toll but a gutsy final performance saw the boys win another trophy"
