The opening games of the 2019 National Presidents Cup took place in Murfreesboro, Tenn. on Thursday. The U18 DC Stoddert Blue Metros (MD) earned a tight, 1-0, victory over Keliix Intra (MN) in the team’s first game. Peter Laursen scored for DC just before the halftime whistle as the Stoddert took a, 1-0, lead into halftime. DC Stoddert held the edge through the final whistle to earn a full three points and handed Keliix its first loss after it went a perfect five-for-five at Midwest Presidents Cup.
When asked after the game about what the goal meant to him, Laursen said, “It feels really good. We’ve been putting in a lot of work in training. I had a really bad regional tournament so getting on the scorer's sheet feels really good.
With the 1-0 win, Stoddert currently sits in second place in the table. The Blue Metros squad will take on fourth place California Rush 01 Cinza on Friday.
